Where to stay for Sundance Boulder 2027
For most first time visitors, downtown Boulder near Pearl Street puts you closest to Boulder Theater and Hotel Boulderado, the festival headquarters. If your priority is Macky Auditorium or Roe Green Theatre, the CU Boulder area is a shorter walk. If price matters more than proximity, Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, or Denver cost less but add a commute that gets harder in winter weather.
Three ways to choose a stay area
Screening obsessed. If you plan to attend multiple films a day, staying within walking distance of Macky Auditorium and the CU Boulder venue cluster removes the need to plan transport between every screening.
Festival atmosphere. Pearl Street and downtown Boulder put you near Hotel Boulderado, Boulder Theater, restaurants, and the evening crowd, at a higher nightly rate.
Save money. Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, and parts of Denver run lower nightly rates than central Boulder. The tradeoff is a drive or transit commute for every screening, which can be affected by winter weather.

Confirmed CU Boulder has confirmed sound, projection, and accessibility upgrades at Macky Auditorium, Roe Green Theatre, and Muenzinger Hall ahead of the festival, which makes this cluster a strong pick if those venues are on your list.
Regional and budget options
Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, and Broomfield sit within a reasonable drive of Boulder. Denver adds real distance but has the deepest hotel inventory and its own transit into Boulder. Booking and cancellation
Book with a cancellation window you are comfortable with. Sundance’s first year in a new city means demand and pricing are harder to predict than in a market with festival history, so flexible bookings are worth the usually small premium in this case.
