Sundance 2027 Boulder venues

Quick answer

Sundance’s official February announcement listed 11 screening theater listings plus 4 talks and programming listings for Boulder. Several of those listings share an organization or a physical address, so treat any claim of 15 separate venues with caution. Hotel Boulderado is confirmed as festival headquarters.

Complete venue registry

Sundance’s official February 2026 announcement listed 11 screening-theater listings and 4 talks/programming listings for the 2027 Boulder festival: 15 listings total, though several share a physical building, so the real number of distinct addresses is lower. The table below lists every officially named venue with its address, operator, and zone. Operational details (which entrance to use, accessible-entrance status, closest transit stop, and parking) have not been published for any venue yet; see the Pending section below rather than assuming from a venue’s general public information.

Hotel Boulderado (2115 13th St, Boulder, CO 80302) is confirmed separately as festival headquarters. It is not one of the 15 screening/talks listings above, but it functions as a hub for credentialing and hospitality.

Grace Gamm Theater appears in newer official venue material alongside the Dairy theaters listed above. Its exact 2027 role should be checked against the live schedule once it is released rather than assumed from earlier material.

Campus upgrades

Confirmed CU Boulder has confirmed sound, projection, and accessibility upgrades at Macky Auditorium, Roe Green Theatre, and Muenzinger Auditorium, beginning ahead of the festival.

How the venues cluster geographically

Five practical zones matter for planning:

  • Downtown / Pearl Street: Boulder Theater, eTown Hall, Dairy Arts Center (Boedecker and Gordon Gamm theaters), Canyon Theater at the Public Library, and Hotel Boulderado. The densest walkable cluster and the most expensive place to stay.
  • CU Boulder campus: Macky Auditorium, Roe Green Theatre, Muenzinger Auditorium, and Old Main. A separate walkable cluster roughly a mile south of downtown.
  • South Boulder (Chautauqua): Chautauqua Auditorium sits apart from both clusters, at the base of the Flatirons; winter access is a distinct planning question covered in a dedicated guide once official transport details exist.
  • East Boulder (29th Street): Cinemark Century Boulder, a commercial multiplex in the Twenty Ninth Street shopping area, separate from downtown and campus.
  • Central and North Boulder (school venues): Boulder High School and Casey Middle School, both Boulder Valley School District buildings pressed into service as Sundance venues, sit outside the downtown and campus clusters.

Venue-to-venue walking times

If you’re planning back-to-back screenings at different venues, this matrix shows walking time between six confirmed venues spanning all five zones, based on Google Maps walking directions. Use it alongside the hotel-to-venue matrix to plan a realistic day. For ready-made day plans built around these walking times, see our one-day, three-day and five-day itineraries.

Walking times are Google Maps route estimates recorded August 2026, not official festival timing, and don’t account for security lines, crowds, or winter conditions. Chautauqua Auditorium is the outlier, roughly 30–60 minutes on foot from every other venue on this list, reflecting its separate South Boulder location and higher elevation (see our weather guide for how that affects planning). Boulder Theater, Macky Auditorium, and Boulder High School form the tightest walkable triangle, each within 22 minutes of the other two. If you’re scheduling back-to-back screenings at two venues more than about 25 minutes apart, budget transit time rather than assuming a walk: see our getting around guide.

Accessibility, entrances, and parking: what’s pending

Pending Sundance has not published venue-specific operational details for the 2027 Boulder festival: which entrance the public uses, which entrance is wheelchair accessible, the closest transit stop for each venue, or on-site/nearby parking status. We are not estimating or inferring these from each venue’s general public information, because festival operations (queue routing, temporary signage, dedicated drop-off points) commonly differ from a venue’s everyday setup. CU Boulder has confirmed accessibility upgrades are underway at Macky, Roe Green, and Muenzinger (see Campus upgrades above), but has not detailed what changes visitors will see. This section will be filled in, venue by venue, as soon as Sundance, the venue operators, or the City of Boulder publish operational guidance.

Venue capacity and everyday accessibility (not festival-specific)

The details below describe how each venue normally operates outside of Sundance: seating capacity, standing accessibility features, and everyday parking. These come from each venue’s own information (or, where noted, third-party sources) and are not festival operational guidance. Sundance week may add temporary entrances, accessible-seating holds, or parking restrictions that override any of this; see the Pending section above for what’s still unknown about the festival itself.

Boulder TheaterAbout 850, per the venue’s own FAQ. Pending a separate historical listing cites 1,017; we’re showing the venue’s own figure but flagging the discrepancy.Venue describes itself as a fully ADA-compliant facility, with advance notice requested for accessible seating and one companion ticket per ADA ticket. No dedicated venue lot confirmed; downtown street and garage parking applies (see our parking guide).

Chautauqua AuditoriumReported as approximately 1,300–1,326 seats by third-party ticketing sites; the venue’s own FAQ pages don’t state a single total, so treat this as Pending a harder number.Reserved wheelchair seating in Sections A/AL/AR, general-admission accessible seating, and a free FM assistive-listening system.First-come, first-served parking along the south side of Baseline Road; separate accessible parking adjacent to the Auditorium.
Dairy Arts CenterVaries by room: Gordon Gamm Theater 250, Grace Gamm Theater 116, Carsen Theater 68–79, Boedecker Cinema 70. Muenzinger AuditoriumReported as 400 seats, single screen, by a third-party historical listing (Cinema Treasures); not confirmed on a CU Boulder page directly, so treat as Pending official confirmation. Not independently confirmed for this specific building in this pass.Nearby CU lots and metered University Ave parking are typically used; exact rates change and should be checked against CU’s own parking page closer to the festival.
Cinemark Century Boulder16 screens, all stadium seating; Pending: no published total or per-screen seat count found from Cinemark or any other source.Cinemark references a general accessibility policy; venue-specific detail wasn’t available to confirm here.Multiplex parking lot on-site, shared with the surrounding retail center.

Nearby hotels and walking times

Confirmed addresses, mapped against representative hotels in each zone. Our Where to Stay guide now includes a hotel-to-venue walking-time matrix: for example, Hotel Boulderado is a 3-minute walk from Boulder Theater but a 45-minute walk from Chautauqua Auditorium, while Moxy Boulder University sits 5 minutes from Macky Auditorium. Use the zone list above for the general picture, and the full walking-time table to compare specific hotel and venue pairs before booking.

Public versus press and industry access

Sundance’s venue announcements do not specify, venue by venue, which screenings are open to the general public versus badge or credential holders only. Historically at Sundance, most theaters have hosted a mix of public-ticketed screenings and separate press/industry (P&I) screenings at different times, rather than a venue being exclusively one or the other. Pending Whether that pattern holds for every 2027 Boulder venue, and which specific screenings are public versus P&I, will only be confirmed once the schedule is released. If you’re planning around industry access specifically, see our press accreditation page once it publishes rather than assuming from this venue list.

Why venue counts differ across sources

You may see other sites describe a different number of Sundance 2027 venues, or name venues that don’t appear on this page. Two common reasons: some sources count Dairy Arts Center’s Boedecker and Gordon Gamm theaters as one venue rather than two, which shifts the total; and at least one third-party guide has named Fox Theatre as a Sundance venue, which does not appear in Sundance’s own 11-screening-theater list as of this page’s last verification. We build this registry directly from Sundance Institute’s own announcement and campus-venue posts, listed under Primary sources below, and we’ll correct this table the same day if Sundance publishes a revised list.

What is not yet known

Pending Which films screen at which venue, and on what schedule, is not public yet. We will not publish a guessed schedule. Once the official screening schedule is released, this page will link to a full schedule tool.
