Sundance 2027 tickets and passes explained

What’s new since our last update

Sundance Institute has published full 2027 ticket pricing, sale dates and product details on its official ticketing site. This replaces the “pricing not yet announced” status that was on this page through early September 2026. Every price and date below is drawn directly from the official Sundance Film Festival ticketing page as of this update.

In-person ticket products

All in-person prices above are the official all-in price, inclusive of fees, as stated on Sundance’s ticketing page.

Online ticket products

Online streaming is restricted to viewers physically located in the United States and U.S. territories. Sundance states that VPN and proxy server use is prohibited and will be detected.

Pass, package, or single ticket: how they differ

An Express Pass is unlimited: it gets you into any screening with priority entry, and passholders do not select specific films in advance, though seating is still first-come, first-seated. A ticket package is a fixed bundle (10 tickets) that you apply to specific screenings yourself, with early access to screening selection before single tickets go on public sale, and the flexibility to change your screening picks up to 4 hours before showtime. A single film ticket is exactly what it sounds like: one seat, one screening, bought individually once public single-ticket sales open on January 8, 2027.

Purchase and screening-selection rules

• A Sundance Film Festival account is required to purchase anything.
• Passholders do not make advance screening selections; packageholders select individual screenings themselves.
• Package screening selections can be changed up to 4 hours before a screening starts.
• Package tickets must be fulfilled (applied to screenings) by the end of the Festival, January 31, 2027; unfulfilled package tickets can still be used in the Waitlist line.
• Most ticket packages are limited to two per account; if you buy more, the extras must be gifted at checkout. Ignite Packages are limited to one per account and cannot be gifted or transferred.
• The Festival is cashless. In-person box office purchases require a credit or debit card.
• There is no reserved seating; all theater seating is general admission, first-come, first-seated.

Eligibility and purchase limits

• Express Passes and the Ignite Package are restricted as noted in the tables above (Express Passes to donors; the Ignite Package to ages 18-25).
• The Ignite single ticket discount has broader eligibility than the Ignite package: it’s open to enrolled students of any age as well as attendees 18-25, per Sundance’s official FAQ. Confirm your own eligibility against the official page before assuming either product applies to you.
• Single Film Tickets: up to 10 may be purchased per screening per account, but only one may be kept without gifting the remainder.
• Ignite Single Film Tickets: limited to 2 per screening and 20 total per user, and require free pre-registration.

Transfer, gift, resale and refund rules

• Transfers: individual screening tickets are fully transferable through your Festival account; the original purchaser does not need to attend.
• Gifting: passes, packages and tickets can be gifted at checkout, and gifting is also how you hand off tickets beyond your account’s purchase limit.
• Resale: Sundance does not authorize third-party resale. Buying through an unauthorized reseller carries real risk, since the site does not state that such tickets are guaranteed to work at the venue.
• Refunds: treat public ticket sales as final. We have not found an official 2027 general-refund policy published alongside the ticket products; if Sundance publishes one, we will link it here.

Online viewing rules

• Public online viewing runs January 28-31, 2027 for every online product.
• Streaming is restricted to the United States and U.S. territories.
• VPN and proxy server use is prohibited and, per Sundance, will be detected.
• Not every in-person film is guaranteed to also be available online; online access is a separate product line from in-person tickets, not an automatic add-on.

Arrival and admission

• Lines typically form at screening venues about one hour before the scheduled start time; theaters open to attendees about 30 minutes before start time.
• Express Pass holders should arrive at least 30 minutes early for priority entry, and specifically be in line at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, or admission is subject to available seating.
• No ticket type guarantees admission. Seating is first-come, first-seated, and late entry after a screening starts is only permitted at venue staff discretion if space allows.
• The Waitlist is Sundance’s standby system for screenings that are no longer available through advance tickets, including unfulfilled package tickets.

Avoiding ticket scams

Buy only through Sundance’s own official ticketing platform, linked from this page. Sundance does not authorize third-party resale, and tickets obtained that way are not guaranteed to be honored at the venue. Be skeptical of any site or seller offering “guaranteed” 2027 tickets before official sales open, and never enter payment details on a site that isn’t Sundance’s own domain.

When do 2027 Sundance tickets go on sale?

Passes and packages go on public sale October 15, 2026 (donor presale October 5, member presale October 13). Single film tickets go on public sale January 8, 2027 (donor presale January 6, member presale January 7).

How much do Sundance 2027 tickets and passes cost?

In-person prices range from $37 for a single film ticket up to $7,500 for a donor-only Full Festival Express Pass. Ticket packages range from $275 to $925. Online products range from $37 to $825. Are there standby or rush-line tickets for Sundance 2027?

Yes. Sundance’s Waitlist is a standby system for screenings that are no longer available through advance tickets, including seats freed up by unfulfilled package tickets.

Can I resell or transfer my Sundance 2027 tickets?

Individual screening tickets are fully transferable through your Festival account. Whole Express Passes and Ignite Packages are not transferable or giftable. Sundance does not authorize third-party resale, and resold tickets are not guaranteed to be honored at the venue.

Can I buy tickets directly from this site?

No. We are an independent visitor guide, not a ticketing platform. Every purchase link on this page goes directly to Sundance Institute’s own official ticketing site.

Will there be a members-only early-access window?

Yes. Sundance Institute donors and members get presale access ahead of the public on-sale dates for both the pass/package sale and the single-ticket sale, per the dates listed above.

Can I watch Sundance 2027 online without traveling to Boulder?

Yes. Sundance offers a separate line of online products (an Online Festival Pass, package, short-films pass, bundle, and single tickets) for public online viewing January 28-31, 2027, restricted to viewers in the United States and U.S. territories.
