What Will Lodging Actually Cost for Sundance 2027? What’s Been Reported So Far

QUICK ANSWER

Reported prices vary enormously. Boulder Reporting Lab found listings from about $50 a night at a Longmont Econo Lodge up to $3,636 a night for a 5-bedroom Boulder home on the festival’s own lodging platform, and some individually listed homes over $5,000 a night. Sundance Institute’s own suggested pricing runs from $250 a night for a 1-bedroom apartment to $1,386 a night for a 4-bedroom home over an 11-night stay. Industry professionals have publicly said Boulder felt pricier than Park City. Treat any single number here as a data point, not a guarantee of what you’ll pay.

Some of the highest numbers are individual outlier listings, not the market average, and prices this far out can still move in either direction as more inventory comes online through the Festival Lodging Rental License and other programs. Visit Boulder has also been promoting a “host with heart” pricing approach and working to unlock more condos and townhomes by changing HOA short-term-rental restrictions, both aimed directly at the concerns in this reporting.

Why it matters

If sticker shock on the festival’s own lodging platform is making Boulder feel unaffordable, you have real alternatives worth comparing: our post on Boulder’s Festival Lodging Rental License covers a newer, more regulated source of private rentals, our hotel room count post covers the supply side, and our Denver commute guide lays out the tradeoffs of booking outside Boulder entirely, where prices are typically lower.

What we’re watching

We’ll update this post if Visit Boulder, Sundance Institute, or the city publishes updated pricing data closer to the festival, or if the “host with heart” pricing push produces measurable results.
