Sundance 2027 Press Accreditation Is Open
Sundance Institute’s standard press accreditation window for the 2027 Boulder festival is open, running August 17 through October 22, 2026, confirmed directly on the Institute’s own credentialing page. There’s no self-serve online application this cycle: you request one by emailing presscredentials@sundance.org. Eligibility rules and any fees are set by Sundance Institute and are not published beyond that page.
Just here for the news? This post tracks the accreditation window opening. For lodging, venue distances, and everything else once you’re credentialed, see our complete press accreditation guide.
What’s confirmed
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Standard press application window | Confirmed Open now, running August 17 through October 22, 2026 |
| Late application window | Confirmed October 23 through December 10, 2026 (credentials may be exhausted by then) |
| How to apply | Confirmed Email presscredentials@sundance.org to request an application |
| Eligibility rules, fees | Pending Not yet published by Sundance Institute |
The window has been open since August 17. If you cover film or festivals for an outlet and haven’t requested an application yet, do it now: credentials are limited, and Sundance Institute says it may not have credentials remaining for outlets that wait for the late window.
What to have ready before you email
Sundance Institute runs its own credentialing process end to end, including which outlets qualify, what documentation it wants, and whether there’s an application fee. We don’t have visibility into any of that beyond what the Institute publishes, and we won’t guess at requirements. Have your outlet’s basic credentials (masthead, past coverage, press card or equivalent) organized before you email presscredentials@sundance.org, since that’s the kind of documentation press accreditation processes commonly ask for. Applying with an assignment letter also matters this cycle: the Institute has said it may not be able to accredit freelancers without one, given limited supply.
What this doesn’t cover
Press accreditation is separate from public ticket sales, which follow their own timeline; see our tickets and passes guide for that schedule. It’s also separate from the venue registry itself; see our venues guide for where screenings happen. Once you’re credentialed, our full press accreditation guide covers the logistics the official portal won’t: where credentialed press tend to stay and how far venues sit from each other in Boulder.
